After 16 years of providing a positive learning environment for the thousands of students who have been served by our hardworking teachers and staff, Montebello Unified School District will repurpose Laguna Nueva School from grades 1st - 8th into a site that will house Alternative Education and the Adult Education Programs.
The reason for the change is due to the enrollment and fiscal realities within our School District. Laguna Nueva School, which consists of portable classrooms, opened in August, 1996 as a temporary and economical solution to ease overcrowding in local schools caused by an increase in the local student population. Today, MUSD has nearly 7,000 fewer students than it did when Laguna Nueva opened. As a result, local schools are no longer overcrowded and classrooms are available.
Laguna Nueva has closed it's door for grades 1st - 8th on June 27, 2012.
